Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date, Unbox Your Phone!
There were rumors about Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs over the internet and today Samsung has unveiled today the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and we have to say they look absolutely stunning! The phone will compete against LG G6 and iPhone 7
Today Samsung has introduced two new smartphones in their galaxy lineup. The phone is an absolute stunner and it is almost bezel free with screen running the full width of the device and curved around the edge. The top and bottom of the phone have a tiny bezel, though. Samsung replaces the traditional home button and repositioned the button to the back of the phone.
Price tag & Launch date
Samsung said the smartphones would be launched on 28th April and Galaxy S8 and S8+ will carry a price tag of £689 (₹ 55439) and £779 (₹ 62681) respectively. They are priced £10 and £40 cheaper than the iPhone 7 models. The phones would be available in Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, Artic Silver, Maple Gold, and Coral Blue.
S8 and S8+ are having 5.8in and 6.2in of the screen respectively with a high screen to body ratio. They are a bit slimmer than iPhone 7 despite having a larger display. The display resolution of both the phones are of 2960x1440p. The S8 & S8+ are the first mobile phone to be rated as Mobile HDR Premium, certifying it as Mobile HDR Premium. They blacks appear black, whites are white and overall a very bright screen. Samsung named it “infinity display”.
This is the first phone to use a Snapdragon 835 SoC (2.35GHz Quad + 1.9GHz Quad). Other 2017 flagships had snapdragon 821SoC. 835 has newer 10nm manufacturing process with a much more powerful Kyro 280 CPU cores. The new SoC is should provide better battery life. The S8 and the S8+ also boast 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and are having SDcard slot. Apart from the display size, there is also a battery capacity difference. S8 has 3000mAh battery while S8+ has 3500mAh battery.
So that was for the S8+ & S8 specs, now coming to the software part, the phone will ship with Android 7, Nougat which is the recent Android version and the phone will get Android O.
The camera is similar to that of the Galaxy S7. It is a 12mp primary camera with f1.7 aperture, large 1.4µm pixels for better low light performance, OIS and dual pixel sensor for faster-autofocusing capability. The front selfie shooter is an 8mp one with f1.7 aperture.
Samsung has added face detection along with retina scanner and also a fingerprint scanner which is located at the back of the phone.
Many of you would be glad to know that the 3.5mm headphone jack made its way into the S8 and S8+. It also features USB C for charging and data transfer.
Samsung has included Bixby, Samsung’s new virtual assistant to compete with Siri and Google Assistant. Bixby offers similar functionality to that of Google’s Assistant. You can interact with Bixby to click, or send pictures, text someone or even set wallpaper.
Another major feature is “Samsung DeX”, short for Desktop Experience. This allows S8 users to dock their phone and use it as a desktop computer. You can use keyboard and mouse and access Office Suites and have full blown desktop experience.
